Brianna Decker was born in a rural community in Dousman, WI. She was raised by her parents Marilyn and John, with her three brothers Bryan, Ben and Brody. Brianna grew up playing boy’s youth hockey with the Waukesha Warhawks, Wisconsin AAA & Madison Capitals. She went on to play high school girl’s hockey at Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Faribault, MN. After high school she attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and played Division 1 Collegiate hockey for the Wisconsin Badgers. As a Badger, she won an NCAA Championship (2011) and Patty Kazmaier (2012) as the top player in NCAA for the seasonand was a Three-time AHCA Division 1 All-American.
As a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team, Brianna has represented the U.S. at two Olympic Winter Games (Gold-2018, Silver-2014), played in seven International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women’s World Championships (Gold-2011, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019; Silver 2012), 10 Four Nations Cups (1st place 2008, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018; 2nd place 2010, 2014, 3rd Place 2013) and one IIHF Twelve Nations Invitational Tournament Series (2011). Additionally, she played in the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championships, capturing Gold in both (2008, 2009), two Under-22 Series vs Canada (2010, 2012) and two Under-18 Series vs Canada (2007, 2008). Brianna is a two-time recipient of the USA Hockey “Bob Allen Women’s Player of the Year Award” (United States Top Women’s Hockey Player) 2015 & 2017.
While continuing to play for USWNT, for the last few years, Brianna has broadened her hockey career, as an assistant coach for the U18 Women’s National Team at the U18 IIHF World Championships, capturing Silver in 2019 and Gold in 2020.
Aside from the USNWT, Brianna’s professional career has consisted of playing in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) with the Boston Blades (2015-League MVP); Calgary Inferno (2018 Clarkson Cup MVP) and National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL)-Boston Pride; 2016 Isobel Cup (inaugural season of the NWHL) NWHL League MVP (2016, 2017).
