I grew up in St. Louis at a time when hockey hadn’t hit it’s stride yet. I learned quickly at a young age that if I wanted to be successful that I would need to find every edge I could if I wanted to keep playing hockey past AAA. For me, that edge was off ice training. While playing in the USHL my love for training grew as I realized it was the catalyst to me raising my game to a whole other level, eventually helping me catch the eye of Western Michigan University during my third year in the league.
I accepted a scholarship to play Division I hockey for Western Mich where I studied Exercise Science and continued to develop and apply my passion for training. I was named the captain of our team as sophomore, which I fully attribute to my dedication on the ice and in the gym. After my junior season, I decided to leave school early and signed an NHL contract with the Boston Bruins. Although I never played in any regular season games, I did wind up playing in seven NHL pre-season games and was on the roster for the Bruins during the 2010 NHL playoffs. In total, I was able to play hockey professionally for ten years all over the US, Europe and Japan playing in 515 combined regular season and playoff games.
During my career I also founded my off ice training company, RIPT HOCKEY, as a way to give back to aspiring hockey players. What started out as a hobby has grown into a progressive training company for players across the world. In person I train NHL, AHL, ECHL, European Professionals, College and Junior players as well as elite AAA players from around the St. Louis area. Online I currently have NHL ALL STARS all the way down to eight year old hockey players (focusing on long term athletic development) from thirteen different countries that are training with me. My main goal in life is to help everyone I work with find a way to reach their maximum potential.
All of my programs come with video demonstrations and coaching for every single exercise you will complete. From activation/warm-ups, to hand eye drills, to plyos, lifting and sprinting, I have made it my mission to ensure everyone has fun training in a smarter way that will actually translate to the ice. Testimonials for Jeff Lovecchio
I have been working with Jeff for two years and I’ve never been in better shape. He takes the time to understand what each athlete needs, physically and mentally. He is always working to learn and better himself in order to help his athletes reach their goals. His mentorship goes far beyond the gym, he truly cares about every person he works with. All young athletes would be lucky to learn from him.

I unfortunately broke my fibula December 12 and had surgery with a plate and seven screws. I obviously had extensive rehab to try to get me back in time for 2019/2020 season. I started working out with Jeff LoVecchio in early January when I still had a walking boot on and was unable to put any weight on that leg. But he created A workout program for me to try to build up my strength and get me back on the ice as soon as possible. Not only is Jeff one of the most genuine and sincere people I’ve ever met, he is absolutely the best trainer I have ever met in my life as a referee in the National Hockey League for 22 years. His knowledge and strength training and how to properly get you prepared mentally and physically for the sport of hockey in my mind is unprecedented. If it wasn’t for Jeff I never would’ve got back in time for 2019/2020 season.
22 Year NHL Referee
Jeff has completely changed the way I approach off season training. With a lot of programs you are training to be a hockey player. His knowledge and attention to detail has been instrumental in helping me make the transition from college to pro, I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am in my career without him.

Jeff has an infectious ability to motivate his guys. Combine that with his ever growing knowledge for the game and strength training, you would be hard pressed to find a better trainer and person. I’m 33 now ,never felt better physically which has translated to the Ice as I’m a better player now then ever. I’m aging like fine wine. I am stronger, I’m more mobile and my overall awareness of health keeps growing and Jeff deserves a lot of the credit. Jeff is a selfless trainer who is passionate about other people’s success and I don’t know about you, but that’s the kind of person I want to be around!
Jeff is a very smart trainer who understands how to functionally train hockey players. As a former player, he understands the physical and mental tools that are required to succeed which helps him build incredible programs. I highly recommend training with him.

Jeff has not only had a positive impact on me as an athlete, but more importantly as a person. His attitude on a daily basis is one that I look up to and strive to have myself. His commitment, dedication, and passion for every individual he works with really shows how much he truly cares. I would recommend working with Jeff for anyone who not only wants a knowledgeable and experienced athletic coach, but also someone who can positively impact their lifestyle as a whole.
