Amanda's Thoughts on Video Analysis:

"Every player should learn at a young age the importance of watching game film. The ability to apply the knowledge given into game-like scenarios is an important skill to have. As a result, the player will become a true student of the game. They will gain the confidence to accept coaching points in the future which will only better their personal growth and development."

The opportunities that I have had to play in various leagues throughout the world has helped me hone my game immensely. Being able to learn from some of the best players in the world and apply that to my own game has increased my offensive awareness and helped me to become a more efficient and effective all-around hockey player.

Having the opportunity to play center, right-wing, and left-wing has helped me to be a more versatile offensive player. From taking faceoffs to winning wall battles, having experience at different positions has increased my awareness. While increasing my offensive production, I have learned to become a reliable two-way player.

I am grateful to have been able to learn so much about the game from many different perspectives, and I am excited to be able to share that knowledge with other aspiring hockey players. With 44 Vision Hockey, we can work together to improve the small areas of your game that make a big difference!

Diana's Bio

Diana’s skating career began in figure skates as a Gold Medalist in Figures, Free Style, Dance and Free Dance) and on to the Ice Capades, before she began teaching figure skating. She then traded in the figure skates for hockey skates and made the transition teaching hockey over 25+ years ago. She began when Brian Burke approached her and spoke about her style of teaching and attention to detail and the need for hockey players to be taught proper mechanics. He then introduced Diana to Blake Dunlop (Blues Alumnus) who had her join his staff for his summer hockey program.

From that point forward, Diana began to help players of all abilities and ages elevate their game by developing their skating skills and gaining confidence on the ice. Her years of experience enables her to tweak small movements that can make big changes. She continues to challenge herself to find new ways to help her students move more efficiently while gaining the control and speed needed to keep up with a constantly evolving game. As the game evolves, Diana helps her students adjust to the needs of the game to become faster, quicker and stronger.

Her list of clients range from players in the NHL, AHL, KHL, ECHL, OHL, USHL, NAHL and Collegiate levels plus officials in the NHL, USHL and the NAHL. The St. Louis Blues, Phoenix Coyotes and Hartford Whalers have hired Diana as their power skating instructor for their summer and holiday camps. She worked for 12 years as the lead hockey skating skills instructor for the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point Camps and has also been a hockey skating skills coach for Hockey Ministries International for over 20+years. Diana had an experience of a lifetime when she was invited by the legendary Bob O’Conner to be an instructor for his hockey camp in Edina, MN. Additionally, she has contracted with collegiate, high school and youth teams all over the US to bring her expertise to their programs. She is currently working with player agencies to develop players in their system.

Since the first Schaefering Power Play Hockey School in 1992, Diana has instructed thousands of players and is known for her “no nonsense” approach to teaching. This past summer, Diana started EDGE, a program for elite players at the AAA, Junior and Collegiate levels. EDGE prepares the player on ice, off ice and mentally to be their best in the hockey arena, as well translating these skills into a productive career after hockey.

She has a USA Hockey Level 4 Certification, is a USA Hockey Presenter and Facilitator, and is one of the founding board members of the Chesterfield Falcon Hockey Association in Chesterfield, MO. Diana is also one of the original coaches with the St Louis Blues Special Hockey (formerly known as the Gateway Locomotives Hockey Team) in the Special Hockey International League.

Diana has author created a video series through Championship Productions (out of print):

Most importantly, Diana is proud of her wonderful family. She and her husband, John live in Wildwood, MO and have three sons. Each of the boys have trained and worked for Schaefering Power Play Hockey. Blake lives in Oslo, Norway with his wife Yvonne and daughters Lumen and Iben. He continues his modeling career while being a sports performance trainer and strength and conditioning coach. Drew lives in Brooklyn, NY and travels extensively as a performance artist, educator and trainer with L’Oreal International while heading up other business ventures in the industry. Tyler, along with his wife Jennifer and daughter Sienna, lives in St. Louis and works in the medical and health care industry. He continues to train young hockey players privately and in groups for Schaefering Power Play Hockey. Away from the rink, Diana is an advocate for animal adoption and an avid gardener.
