Sports Science Coordinator ~ Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL)

I spent the 2018 - 2020 seasons as the sports science coordinator for the Pittsburgh Penguins. In this position I would test each players training load, run HR monitoring software, and help with team lifts.

Sports Performance Coach

From 2008 until now I have worked at several private training facilities as a sports performance coach. In these positions I have worked with a diverse range of athletes from a variety of sports. From youth athletes to high level professionals.

Head Coach ~ Pro Ambitions Inc.

From 2010 - 2020 I was a head coach for Pro Ambitions Inc., one of the largest youth hockey camps in all of North America. As a head coach I oversaw and directed a large staff of coaches as well as 50 kids every week of camp.

Training Philosophy

At the Rusiewicz Performance Co. I (Adam) utilize all training modalities, depending on the individual and their needs. Barbells, body weight movements, gymnastics movements, dumbbells, and bands, are just some of the tools I utilize in each athlete’s training program. My training philosophy has been heavily influenced by Ido Portal, elite movement coach, as well as Andy O’Brien, elite NHL performance coach, and the Pittsburgh Penguins Sports Science Director.

In my programs, I prioritize movement quality and movement efficiency at every phase. This may entail gaining strength, power, mobilization, stability, proprioception, or many other factors at different times within your development. In all my programs I seek to help the individual, with their individual needs.

Online coaching / programming

Any athlete interested in online coaching with me (Adam), can reach out through this landing page or through Instagram. After initial contact is made, we will set up a call to see if we would be a good fit in working together and to take a chance to connect a bit. This initial call can be done through zoom, FaceTime, or any other platform. This initial call is free of charge.

After the initial call, if both parties agree to work together, the athlete will then send their initial payment to me through an online medium(ApplePay, Venmo…) to get started. Once payment is received, I will send a link to the online platform where you will eventually access your program. After you receive the link, you will setup up your login information in the app, and then you will receive access to an initial assessment video. These videos should be watched carefully, practiced, and then performed by you (the athlete) and filmed once you feel comfortable with them. Once the videos are filmed, they can be sent to me within the app to be evaluated.

After you complete the assessment I discussed above, I will then start working on creating your individualized program. Your program design will be based upon our initial conversation, the filmed assessment, and each individual athletes goals. During our initial conversation, you will detail your training history, current goals, and what you hope to get out of your program. Your video assessment will show me how your body moves and if you have any movement dysfunctions that will need to be addressed. After your program is written, it will be uploaded onto the app and you will receive a notification to view your program and to begin!

Once you receive your program you will review all videos and details of the program. In your review, pay very careful attention to the form and specific instructions for each exercise. After a thorough review is complete, the athlete can then ask me any questions you might have regarding your program. Once everyone feels comfortable, the athlete can begin! At the beginning of your program, I would like weekly feedback videos to be sent for each exercise in order for me to evaluate your execution.
